There are still six months before the announcement of the main color of 2025. It's time to remember what colors color experts and paint manufacturers have suggested to us for the current year 2024: the focus is on shades that create a relaxed, calm and welcoming atmosphere
Tikkurila: peach Nude in Nizza
Tikkurila's Color of the Year 2024 is Nude in Nizza, which the brand describes as "a charming peach-toned shade that goes beyond the usual neutrals." It was chosen in collaboration with Marie Olsson Nylander, a renowned interior designer from Sweden. Nude in Nizza delicately combines peach, pink and beige. Designed to convey a feeling of freshness and modernity, this warm color pairs harmoniously with a wide range of shades, from white to deep reds, greens, browns and chocolates. It adds color to the interior while maintaining an overall neutral mood. With Nude in Nizza, the living space "transforms into a sun-drenched haven."
Loymina Group: “Apricot jam”
Loymina Group's own color science laboratory analyzed global color trends and research to choose its color of the year. It was the shade NC48-1167 “Apricot Jam”, close to the Pantone Institute version. It is designed not only to please the eye, but also to improve well-being - Loymina Group experts believe that it has a positive effect on the emotional state, and also energizes and gives strength in the morning - an ideal choice for night owls. In addition, the shade “Apricot Jam” stimulates the imagination and inspires creative ideas, encourages trusting communication and cooperation, which makes it a good choice for offices and workspaces of creative people. The color of the year in the interior is recommended to be combined with natural shades of wood and stone or with rich contrasting tones, for example, dark blue and deep green.
Glidden: Yellow Limitless
Glidden (owned by PPG Paints) has announced its 2024 Color of the Year is the fresh and warm Limitless, which is described as "anything but yellow." As envisioned by the brand's experts, Limitless combines the power of primary color with the essence of neutral color, supporting both cool and warm tones. At the same time, he has the character to perform in space on his own. It is intended to replace the gray color that has dominated “neutral” interiors for many years and bring warmth to them.
Dulux: Warm Embrace Pink
Paint manufacturer AkzoNobel and the Dulux brand have named shade 70RR 64/034 “Sweet Embrace” as the key color of the year 2024. This is a pastel pink shade inspired by the softness of feathers and evening clouds. The AkzoNobel International Center for Aesthetics has been studying and forecasting global color trends for over 20 years, taking into account many factors. Warm Embrace is designed to help create the welcoming, calm spaces that many of us need today. To complement its Color of the Year, Dulux has created three palettes to help you coordinate colors effortlessly.
Avium: Marine El Mar
The Avium brand presented its own color of the year for the first time - it was the deep sea shade El Mar, which symbolizes the unshakable power of the elements and energy, but at the same time calm and harmony. According to brand experts, this beacon color reminds of how important it is to maintain balance in the fast pace of modern life. Avium accompanied its color of the year with four balanced microcapsules of trendy shades that correspond to current trends in design and the philosophy of cycling. All shades in them are organically combined with the main shade El Mar. Together they are designed to inspire the creation of a spectacular interior.
Benjamin Moore: Blue Nova
Paint manufacturer Benjamin Moore chose the color of the year together with Blue Origin, an American private aerospace company founded by Jeff Bezos. According to experts, the intergalactic blue-violet shade Blue Nova 825, which “was inspired by the glow of a new star formed in space,” will be in fashion. Andrea Magno, director of color marketing and development, describes the color as "an alluring undertone that balances depth and intrigue with classic appeal and confidence."
Sherwin-Williams: Blue Upward
Sherwin-Williams has named Upward SW 6239, a relaxing light blue hue, its Color of the Year: “The color that comes when we slow down, take a breath, and allow the mind to clear.” It is one of the lightest shades chosen as the color of the year, a trend that the brand believes will be popular in the coming years. “We knew that lighter tones would be important in 2024 and 2025 and wanted to predict the transition from earthy neutrals to lighter shades, and a light blue such as Upward SW 6239 illustrates this very well,” says Sue Wadden, director of color marketing for Sherwin-Williams. Experts believe that this color of the year will create a calm and relaxed atmosphere in the interior, adding “coastal chic”.
Valspar: Renew Blue
Valspar, owned by Sherwin-Williams, has selected Renew Blue as its 2024 color of the year. Over the past few years, cool blues and greens with their calming character have been used in interiors in combination with warm neutrals and bold accent shades. Combining soothing tones of blue with organic shades of green and gray, Renew Blue continues this trend. Inspired by natural phenomena such as fog, haze, clouds and glacial lakes, it will transform your home into a tranquil sanctuary and allow you to experience an atmosphere of serenity. “The concept of home is evolving—it's no longer just a physical place, but a feeling,” says Sue Kim, director of color marketing for Valspar.
Graham & Brown: Green Viridis
The brand's own design studio Graham & Brown named the theme "Utopia" as the trend of the year, and the muted sage green shade Viridis as the color of the year. It has been carefully selected to create a warm and welcoming space with a calming atmosphere. “Viridis is the perfect embodiment of the fertile green hills around us,” describes the brand. “It is particularly suitable for entrance and seating areas where exterior and interior spaces meet.” The color of 2024 pairs perfectly with the design of the year, the New Eden botanical print. Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of hospitality and unrivaled omotenashi service, they encourage people to open their homes to guests and create a utopian aura of warmth and acceptance.
Behr: black Cracked Pepper
Last year, the Behr brand named soft white Blank Canvas its color of the year, and in 2024 it chose its complete opposite - dusty black Cracked Pepper. The brand describes it as a versatile soft black that instantly enhances not only the room you're in, but also the way you feel in it, easily adding sophistication with the right colors, finishes and materials. Behr experts recommend pairing the color of the year, Cracked Pepper, with balanced, light-colored furniture and natural lighting for a visually powerful effect while maintaining a spacious, airy feel.
